Mossack Fonseca: who and why?

No doubt there’s going to be a lot of press coverage of the disclosures arising from the Mossack Fonseca document leak.

However, there are two important questions that I don’t think will ever be answered – mostly because I suspect important people don’t want them to be asked, and most of the media don’t have the wit even to think of them, let alone the courage to ask them.

  1. Who leaked the documents, and to whom?
  2. Why did they leak the documents?

Don’t wait up for an answer.

UPDATE: I was somewhat pre-emptive in my cynicism. The people one can usually rely on to question these sorts of ‘surprise’ events are performing true to form (more, more).

I suppose I’ll amend my conclusion by saying that, while the questions might well be asked, don’t expect the ‘mainstream’ press to follow up with these questions, nor to seek or provide answers.

UPDATE II: Surely this is just a coincidence.

Surely.
